Erin began her journey with Sisterlocks and has been locked for 16 years. 3 of those years has been Knotted Locs.
After recently experiencing postpartum challenges, she returned for a Knotted Locs re-locking session.
What surprised both of us was discovering bushy strands between her Knotted Locs clear signs of hair loss that went unnoticed. The reason? Her previous re-locking session was five months earlier, and this four months stretch allowed her scalp to rest and recover naturally as she adjusted to new motherhood.
Her long re-locking intervals are possible simply because her locs are supported with knots, giving her hair the stability they need to grow with less manipulation and less stress.
About Me
My name is Melissa Blake, the Creator of Knotted Locs and a Small & Medium Size Locs Specialist based in London. I developed Knotted Locs because I believed small size loc wearers deserved the freedom to enjoy their hair without restrictions or constant worry. The indefinite constant retightenings needs to STOP.
Today, my clients including those I teach online, typically re-lock only 3 to 4 times a year, including clients like Erin. This SAVES MONEY, reduces maintenance schedules, giving peace of mind, less scalp stress, and more time to simply enjoy their small size locs.

A Note on Re-tightening
When I’m asked, “Do you re-tighten?” My answer is always "NO." You might ask why say, no to Retightening?
My approach is rooted in preserving hair & locs care health, preventing tension (repetitive pulling and tugging + TIGHT FINISHES ) and supporting long term scalp wellness. Knotted Locs offers a different path one that prioritises the wellbeing and freedom of every small size locs wearer.
